Hi! I’m Julie Hiers and I just celebrated my one “yogaversary” on March 4, 2017. Growing up as a competitive gymnast, I developed a love of twists, tumbles, and flexibility. So, my first time on my yoga mat was somewhat reminiscent of my gymnastic days and the ever-changing and stimulating practice of yoga keeps me coming back wanting to learn more as a student and a teacher.
While my journey is still fairly new, I felt an immediate connection to my mat and the sense of peace it gave me during my practice. As I began to feel the transformation yoga had in my life I felt inspired to share the gift of yoga with others. I am certified through YogaFit as a Level 1 instructor and also through KAY (Kidding Around Yoga) as a children’s instructor. My wish is that as my personal practice evolves, so will my teaching. I draw inspiration from God, life, children, and my first yoga teachers April and Meghan. My goal is to work towards my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training.
As a new yoga teacher I aspire to introduce a practice to my students where they feel safe, warm, relaxed, empowered, and comfortable in their own body. Yoga is about uncovering who you really are, being in the moment. It’s about slowing down to get strong. My hope is that what they learn on their mat about themselves they will take into their daily lives.
When I am not on my mat you can find me in my element as an educator in Lakeland, Georgia. I have been blessed to be able to share two passions teaching and yoga.
So if you are ready to step out of your comfort zone come on down to Yoga Central and treat yourself to some “me time.” I look forward to meeting you on your mat and being even a small part of your journey……
