These three little words can mean so many different things to us as individuals.
Maybe the way you relax is walking on the beach and talking to friends. Maybe it’s by cutting loose on the dance floor and laughing out loud until it hurts with happy tears rolling down your face. Maybe it’s a little gentle yoga followed by a delicious meal that you didn’t have to cook. Maybe it’s just being out of town with no schedule to worry about that includes work, children or spouses.
I had the pleasure and honor of guiding 19 women on a yoga retreat to St. Simons
Island this past weekend. What a treat it was for me to watch the laughter, the...
For those who feel as I once did, that beginning a yoga practice is intimidating, too challenging, not challenging enough, or an otherwise uncomfortable undertaking, I want to share some of my experience and knowledge, in the hopes that it might make yoga more approachable. I believe that yoga can offer healing, fitness, and fun for everybody, and I want to help you get there. I’ll start with the first line of resistance to starting a new physical practice: excuses.
I could write an entire book on yoga excuses, because...
“Yoga has made me a more balanced, more relaxed, more driven, and more
focused individual. Frankly, those are all qualities I already thought I had, until they became all the more easily conjured, as I grew deeper in my practice.“
Yoga is for all sizes, shapes, and abilities. It is what “ connects” us to ourselves and others on and off the mat. We are always striving here at Yoga Central to bring you the balanced, relaxed, driven version of yourself and a little sweaty (in the Power Flow) class.
Whatever type of yoga you need and want, we are here for you.

At 45-years-old when I stood up to walk to the kitchen, I had to stand in place for a few moments to allow the blood to flow to my legs, and even then I could only manage to limp to the fridge. I had to do something. Yoga was the answer for me.
However, I think the better question is what keeps me going to yoga?
Yoga has benefited me in several ways.
When I came to my mat, I didn’t realize what I was in for besides the flowing of poses and twisting of the body. I am a very emotional person. I can be very anxious. And even though I smile often, joke around more than I should and laugh loud, I waiver on the edge of depression. There...
What if all it took was one deep breath? One breath to release stress, one breath to connect with openness, spaciousness, love?
What if breath had the power to heal what blocks us and then the power to create a new beginning? One breath to accept what’s here and one breath to imagine what’s possible. Would you then make time for it?
Our mats are not places to be perfect, or even places that we have to be particularly happy. They are places to be authentic. The mat is a place where it’s okay to cry. They are places to give ourselves permission to feel, practice self-care, and use our beautiful physical bodies to potentially shift our experiences. We...
“ I realized that I don’t have to be perfect. All I have to do is show up and enjoy this messy, imperfect, and beautiful journey of life.” Tiny Buddha
We all have these feelings of self –doubt that creep in, no matter our
We just have to learn to ignore those voices in our head and rekindle our belief in ourselves. Try finding that positive mantra or phrase that helps you keep your confidence.
Maybe the phrase is “ You are stronger than you know.” Or “Inhale love - Exhale doubt.”
Using these mantras daily or when you lose self-confidence will lift your spirits and you may even find it brings a smile to your face.
Think of a word for 2018 that can apply for what your New Year’s resolution will be.
Let your word be known.
Set your intention to live your word out again & again.
You deserve a year—a life—of magic and everything you dream of….you have that power.
If you want 2018 to be YOUR year:
Don’t sit on the couch and wait for it. Go out. Make a change. Smile more. Be excited. Do new things. Throw away what you’ve been cluttering. Unfollow negative people on social media. Go to bed early. Wake up early. Be fierce. Don’t gossip. Show more gratitude.
I’m sure that most of you are super excited for them (and rightfully so), but I’m sure there is one thing on your mind - the dreaded holiday weight gain.
Here are a few things to help you stick to your routine and avoid the holiday blues weight gain!
1. Over Indulgence
This doesn’t mean that you can’t have your favorite holiday food or treats. It’s that you don’t want to eat so much that you’re left on the couch in a coma missing the second half of the football game...and again for the nightcap.
Stick to 1 plate.
Don’t go back for seconds.
Simple as that.
Make protein and vegetables the centerpiece of your meal. Load up with as m...
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would open my own yoga studio.
I was content with teaching and assisting other yoga students with their personal practice. Then one call changed the course of 2016-2017 and as they say the rest is history.
As sit I here today and look outside at this gorgeous early fall day, I am so grateful. The world is full of hardship, pain, and suffering, even right here in Valdosta, and we see it with the effects of Irma still lingering. So the fact that I can be thankful and mean it is, in its own way, a small miracle.
When I was younger, I took things for granted as we all do. As I matured, I real...
Take the time to find your center, relax, and allow yourself to be calm and free.
Whether it’s a vacation, break, meditation, bath, good book, sittings outside or just staring off into space for a few minutes. It's nice to shut off and disconnect from the world, and yourself, for a little while each day to rejuvenate yourself. It's important and helpful for all of us.
I just got back from a family trip to Colorado and the crisp air was so refreshing. I was able to just enjoy the time and unwind from my same old routine. I enjoyed the tranquility and peace of being in the mountains. We hiked and took in all of the beautiful scenery and also went fly fis...
